I have pondered about this topic after it cam up on a forum I am am member of and am struggling because I was put off classical music in my younger years by the pomposity, the "I'm smarter than you" attitude and pseudo intellectual arty type waffle that came across from Radio 3
soapbox: .
I have listened to all sorts of music from Samba to Status Quo to Schubert (I tried Opera but I'm sorry N
) and I have to say I started listening to music from the late 60s onwards (first 7" - Lola by the Kinks) and I am still more inclined towards Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Cream, Deep Purple et al - oh and Glen Miller at a push - than worrying about whether the 14th violinist had missed a note and therefore failed to interpret the composers inner feelings on the death of distant cousin while slave trading in the Dutch Antillies .......
:soapbox:
Having said all that I do occaisionally hear the odd bit of classical music and think that's nice - but some of the concerto for 12 Transistor Radios - Please!
Is It Me ???
And one more thing - Hi FI can only get as good as your ears can interpret
