Metcheck is back! The 'Interactive' section where you were able leave your own local weather reports is not functioning, instead there is a message saying it is down for 'cleaning'. It has been like that for a long while - strange, how long does it take to delete old files on a server? Not long!!

I have noticed it has "gone" for the last day or two. I know they did an update about a year ago and it wasn't available then but there has been no mention of that recently.

Come back, Metcheck - I need to know if I can look forward to golf on Sunday or not!

The guys are working on it and there do seem to be some problems. It will come back on but looks like a bit more is involved than was first thought - this from the facebook metcheck group.

I use metcheck every day(favourites list) and am totally p****d off that it seems to have disappeared and been replaced by some site that wants you to look at anything other than the weather. I need to know if I can put washing out or the pool up for my two young children.

As of today (11 July 08) it is no longer there. www.metcheck.com only takes you to a domain vendor's site.

Anyone know what happened?

I just tried to call it up (it's in my Favourites) and all I get is a page for a domain name vendor saying that the domain is registered with them. Could be cybersquatting or a domain name dispute.

Anyway, metcheck.com (which was a huge site) is nowhere to be found. No holding page, nothing...

Has anyone here EVER used a Space Pen to the very last bit of ink (resin?) left in its refill? I've been through 3 or 4 of these and the story is always the same. They start off wonderfully - black, bold - almost "wet" looking in quality, smooth and creamy to use. About two to four months into it (I don't use it daily but keep it in my pocket for when I need a pen handy like at church or for signing my name) and it starts acting like it's out of ink. I finally have to draw circles on a page to get it going again - and again, and again and finally, I give up and replace the refill. Each time I do, I break the previous one in half (expecting to see it's empty) only to find the pressurized vessel has another inch of ink left in reserve!

Hi Lissa - no didn't go to the circus - there were camels, ponies, Llamas, some big brown cow with huge horns and some performing dogs - thought about going but....

Sounds a great place, and a respite after all your family has been through. Not convinced about the lion, but he looks a healthy enough specimen. Did you atcually go to the circus? In the days when British circuses still had wild animal shows I remember a huge furore when two great cats briefly got loose in the streets of Grimsby. The circus was on derelict land in the middl of town and, ss I recall, the poor creatures wandered into the nearby bus station (presumably to find a way to leave) and then more-or-less turned themselves in at the police station opposite.

I had to go to the funerals of two much loved aunts in the last couple of weeks. In a weird way, funerals can be quite strengthening. In my case, I got to see again cousins I'd been close to in our childhood, after not seeing them for many years and had a real sense of a family united. But naturally, the closer family you are, the harder it gets, except to be pleased that all the people who came, did come to support you.
Now is the hard time, when everyone else gets back to normal, and the close family don't have a normal to get back to, only a painful new beginning. Good luck and best wishes to you all.

I was reading your blog entries. Can I pass on my sympathies, my father died July 6th 1997 after having exactly the same cause of death in front of me and my mum aged 52.

It's really tragic and can I advise you to spend some time after the hubbub and noise has ceased to get yourself slowly checked over time with your GP for risk of clotting/propensity for stroke or whats called Transient Ischaemic Attack. I was 24 when I found out I had the same thing that killed him. It does NOT change your life but it can be controlled easily and simply.

Once more my condolences.

I don't think you did but he was only 11 years older - my mother is, as you can imagine, living hour by hour to get through the day - there will be a pm I suspect so it will be a while before it is all sorted. Thank you for your prayers.
